Because your 20s are for doing what you love

I love quotes, especially the ones that force you to take a step back and evaluate yourself. Am I living to my full potential? Do I live a life that is inspiring? What legacy will I leave?

My name is Laura Franks. I am a 22 year old Arkadelphia native. I have an older brother, Ben, a twin brother, Daniel, and a younger sister, Adason. My parents, Janet and Todd, will celebrate their 28th wedding anniversary in October. I hold an Associate of Science degree from Arkansas State University and am pursuing my Bachelor of Business Administration Emphasis In Marketing from Henderson State University. 

I love a good puzzle. Whether I am watching a new criminal investigation show on Netflix or being entranced by a good mystery novel, I love to problem solve. I prefer word searches and games of strategy. I am a visual learner and I base my decisions on logic. 

I find people to be very intriguing. I like to figure out why people think and act the way that they do. What drives them to indulge in certain behaviors? I am very interested in Marketing Research or designing focus groups for my career after graduation.

I love to be outdoors and being active. Exercising is one of my favorite things to do, but I absolutely lothe the gym. I am a full time student and I work two jobs. My schedule is often packed, but I thrive off being busy and productive. When I do have spare time, I like to spend it volunteering in my mother's classroom. She is a Special Education teacher. I also babysit for a family with ten children, adopted from Russia and Guatemala. I have found that I have a deep passion for helping children with special needs. 

My other passion is travel. I find nothing more pleasurable than worldwide adventure and learning! Thus, the reason for this blog. It will be an electronic submission of my journey to Ireland. I don't have any set expectations about the trip. I try not to get too many hopes about something because I want to just experience it with unbiased eyes. Often times, I work myself up over thinking on a situation and I have found that things work out better for me when I am open and available to ideas. 

This will be my third study abroad trip and I could not be more excited. I have been to several cities in India and visited the Taj Mahal. I spent a month traveling to several locations in Spain and took a weekend excursion to Paris to see the Eiffel Tower.  The one goal I had for college upon graduating high school was to study abroad. It was a weird desire for me because I was a rather shy person. However, I found the courage to try it, and I have been addicted ever since.

Through traveling abroad, I have really gotten to know myself. It has given me the chance to see outside my hometown and the many opportunities the world has to offer. I have discovered things I really really really do not like and things that I could not live without. Through this blog, you will get to witness that continuing discovery process.
